Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The 98th Annual meeting of the Southern States Bible Conference will be July 11-14, 2016. We will meet at Epworth By The Sea on St. Simons Island in Georgia.
The natural setting for the conference is beautiful with a view of the Intercostal Waterway and the marsh. Then we have the great oaks with limbs so long and heavy that supports have been built under some of the limbs.
The spiritual setting is equally impressive. The Prayer Tower, the gazebo with the cross on top, Lovely Lane Chapel, the gardens, and children reading their Bibles on the pier early in the morning or late evening remind you that you are in a Christian environment.
Haven’t made your plans to attend the conference this year? Make your plans today! You will enjoy the fellowship and the spiritual uplifting. The Program Committee selected the theme, Behold the Lamb, and has arranged a program that will permit us to ‘Behold The Lamb’ in various settings in scripture.
We will begin our conference on Monday evening with The Band Kelley entertaining with gospel, bluegrass and old standards music. Several groups within our denomination will provide special music at our worship services. Congregational singing is always great.
The Youth Program Committee has planned a program of worship activities and fun activities for our young people. The Exhibits Committee will provide space for churches and denominational organizations to share their ideas and work with those attending the conference. The host churches, Lake Chapel and Comfort Chapel, will assist with the conference operations and operate the shuttle service to move attendees to meals, meetings and lodging.

As with most things, time is very important. Registration deadline is JUNE 9, but earlier registration will be extremely helpful. Registering before this date will help us assure we have adequate lodging at Epworth. It will also help those preparing name badges, handling registration and planning other details of the conference to have your registration information as early as possible.
I look forward to seeing you at the conference. It is always a great time of fellowship, renewing friendships, making new friends, and Spiritual renewal.
Rufus ‘R.L.’ Akins
